One of my favourite pictures that I own is a small etching by a German artist called Richard Bloos, 1878 - 1957. For many years I thought his name was Richard Bloo (see signature) and my internet searches went unresolved. However the other evening I did another search, with a few variations to his name and finally found information on the artist. Particularly useful was a website called Artist Search that I found via Google. This eventually led to an excellent site called Artnet and their own resources and connection to information. I finally found what I was looking for, firstly confirmation of his name and signature and secondly further examples of his work. These can be found HERE with many of his paintings and etchings that had gone to auction. Success !
Why do I like this image so much. I'm not exactly a fan of performing animals beyond sheep dogs in action, certainly not as entertainment portrayed. Its the expression of wonder and dismay (?) of the white dog on the left that touches me so. The face of the dog is so brilliantly drawn with just a few lines and is almost human like. 
Looking at Bloos work it seems he had an enthusiasm for many subjects but principally street and people scenes. I did also discover another lovely etching of a dog so they obviously were part of his interest and life. If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have discovered more on this wonderful artist who I'm pleased to connect more fully with.
